RELIGIOUS EDUCATION |
| Religious Education provides the children with a knowledge
and growth in understanding of the content of the Catholic faith teachings
with a philosophical basis in the integration of faith and life.
Teachers are accredited via a formal and informal training and study
to provide a Religious Education program suitable for their class and
school community.
GUIDELINES

The Perth Archdiocesan
Guidelines for Religious Educators provides the content for the RE program.
Level 1 for Pre Primary and Year 1, Level 2 for Years 2 and 3, Level
3 for Years 4 and 5, Level 4 for Years 6 and 7. The content is divided
between the year levels and set out in the school syllabus. Each teacher
will have a copy of the appropriate Guidelines, Syllabus and other programming
and assessment materials provided by the Religious Education Co-ordinator.

Daily Religious Education Lessons
are timetabled - 20 minutes in Pre Primary and Year 1, 30 minutes in
other classes. This time does not include School Masses, Paraliturgies
and other aspects of Faith Life unless they are consciously integrated
into the program.

Sacramental programs are integrated into the
years RE program in line with the philosophy of the Guidelines. St Josephs
is part of a Parish Sacramental Program. Children receive the Sacrament
of Reconciliation in Year 3, First Eucharist in Year 4 and Confirmation
in Year 7.

All students
participate in the Religious Education Program of the school. Students
who are not Catholic are expected to participate in Religious Education
lessons and are an integral part of the respective class preparation
for the reception of Sacraments. |
